‘Chasing 4th-place Doosan 2G,’ Kim Won-hyung on Elias: “Thank you for continuing to pitch so many innings and help us win”

The 5th-ranked SSG Landers pulled off an upset win over the 4th-ranked Doosan Bears. The team thanked their foreign starting pitcher for his long innings.

SSG pulled off a 6-3 come-from-behind victory over Doosan in the second game of a doubleheader in the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League at SSG Landers Field in Incheon at 7:34 p.m. on Sunday. Fifth-ranked SSG and fourth-ranked Doosan are now two games back.

After the game, head coach Kim Won-hyung said, “Elias continues to pitch a lot of innings and pave the way for us to win. Thank you for leading the team to victory by pitching eight innings today.”

Loenis Elias picked up his seventh win of the season (6-0) with eight innings of seven-hit, eight-strikeout, three-run ball. He has pitched seven or more innings in each of his last three games. He tossed eight scoreless innings against Doosan on April 14 and seven scoreless innings against LG on April 21.

“In the bottom of the sixth inning, (Choi) Ju-hwan hit the winning run and the batters showed good concentration at the right time to get the win,” Kim said.

SSG scored one run in the top of the sixth inning, but the team rallied for six runs in the bottom of the inning, including Choi’s game-winning two-run double.토토사이트

Earlier in the day, the teams played to a 7-7 tie in game one of the doubleheader at 3 p.m. With the win in game two, fifth-ranked SSG closed the gap on fourth-ranked Dusan from three games to two.

Coach Kim said, “From the first game of the doubleheader, the players played a very difficult game. However, I would like to praise them for not giving up until the end and chasing to the end to draw the game. It must have been physically difficult for them in the second game, but they showed a good performance,” Kim added.
