Betancourt, who was released by KBO, left Tampa Bay for Cleveland…Expected annual salary of $2.3 million

Catcher Christian Betancourt, who played for the KBO’s NC Dinos, will reportedly join the Cleveland Indians.

Cleveland claimed Betancourt off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays on July 7, according to MLBTR.굿모닝토토 주소

MLBTR previously listed Betancourt’s salary for next year at $2.3 million if Tampa Bay tender him.

Tampa Bay decided to waive Betancourt after he hit just .225 in 2023.

Betancourt traveled to South Korea in 2019 after playing for the Atlanta Braves and San Diego Padres, but was released after 53 games with the NC after batting .246 with eight home runs and 29 RBIs.

Upon returning to the United States, Betancourt played in the minor leagues with the Philadelphia Phillies and Pittsburgh Pirates before getting his chance to return to the big leagues with the Oakland Athletics in 2022.

Betancourt hit .249 with Oakland before being traded to Tampa Bay during the season.

He continued to perform well in Tampa Bay, batting .255 in 45 games, so the Rays kept him for another year in 2023 for a $1.35 million salary.
