KIA Tigers outfielder Mario Sanchez (29) has developed a sudden elbow problem.
Sanchez pitched seven innings of two-hit ball, striking out six and walking one in Gwangju against the Hanwha Eagles on April 25. He earned his fourth win of the season in a 4-1 victory.
However, after the game, he suddenly felt a slight pain in his elbow. He was examined at the designated hospital, Seonhan Hospital, and received an abnormal elbow report.
The club explained, “It’s just a slight discomfort, and we need to double-check it just in case.” Sanchez is scheduled to travel to Seoul on Monday (Aug. 28) for a further examination.
Sanchez was removed from the roster on June 26 when Yang Hyun-jong returned to the starting rotation. Even if he doesn’t have a major problem, he’ll miss one start. If the injury is serious, he could be out for the season.
KIA skipped Yang Hyun-jong’s start to recharge his batteries. Lee Yi-ri was also removed from the roster after a micro-inflammation was found in his shoulder and is now resting for 10 days.
The two players were followed by Sanchez, who was sidelined with an elbow issue, causing another setback to the starting lineup. Sanchez joined the team in July as an alternate outfielder after playing in the Taiwanese League.먹튀검증
In eight appearances, he is 4-2 with a 5.28 ERA. He seemed to be rebounding after earning his first Quality Start Plus the day before, but his elbow soreness is a concern.
