The final game of the three-game series between LG and KT for the top two spots in the Korean Baseball Organization’s “Preview of the Korean Series” saw a series of bench clearing due to sand dunes.
On the 7th, LG and KT played at KT Wiz Park in Suwon. With the series tied at 1-1, the third game of the day was a back-and-forth affair in the early innings. LG took a 6-3 lead in the sixth inning with a two-run home run by Oh Ji-hwan. In the eighth, Park Dong-won hit a solo home run to make it 7-3.
In the top of the ninth, LG put runners on first and third with a leadoff single by Hong Chang-ki, a sacrifice bunt by Shin Min-jae, and a single to right by Kim Hyun-soo. Choi Seung-min, who pinch-hit for Kim Hyun-soo, stole second base.
In the eighth inning, Jung Ju-hyun’s grounder to shortstop was dropped by second baseman Lee Ho-yeon, allowing both runners to score. LG took a 9-3 lead.
The next inning was a nerve-wracking one. Moon Bo-kyung drew a walk against Ha Jun-ho, and Oh Ji-hwan was hit by a pitch to load the bases. Oh was hit by a 146-kilometer fastball in the back, causing pain and sensitivity. He had a snowball fight with Ha Jun-ho and later took out his frustration by hitting the ball that hit him on the ground with his bat. After a while, Oh calmed down and walked to first base.
With two outs, Moon Sung-joo was hit in the right elbow guard by a changeup on a full count and scored on a wild pitch. Oh was then replaced at second base by pinch-hitter Ahn Ik-hoon.
It was another dizzying pitch. Ha Jun-ho threw a 142-kilometer fastball right at Park Hae-min’s face. Park dodged and fell backwards. Park got up, threw his helmet away, and walked toward the mound. Umpire Park Jong-cheol stopped him.
Then, players from both teams came out of the dugout one by one to clear the benches. Some of the LG and KT players walked to the first and third base foul lines and got into a scuffle. Luckily, it didn’t get physical. After the dust settled, the umpires ruled that Park Hae-min was hit on the shoulder by the jersey. The umpire waved it off, making the score 11-3.
In the bottom of the ninth, KT scored one run off LG’s Choi Dong-hwan with a walk and three consecutive hits. With the bases loaded, LG struck out three straight batters against Oh Seok-ju to end the game.먹튀검증
After the game, Oh spoke about the ninth inning, saying, “I think it was a momentary lapse (after being hit). It was a situation that could be misunderstood, but when I was on first base, Byung Ho-hyung and Kyung Soo-hyung asked me to understand and said that it was a mistake, so I think I moved on,” he said.
“I don’t want to get too emotional about it. However, it’s a bit unfortunate that they came out like that at the end. From the winning side, it was okay,” he said.
