Ham Deok-ju (28, LG) will not be able to play in the remaining regular season games due to elbow inflammation.
LG coach Yeom Kyung-yeop met with reporters ahead of the 14th game of the 2023 Shinhan Bank SOL KBO League season against KT Wiz, which was scheduled to be held at Suwon KT Wiz Park on the 20th, and announced the end of left-handed pitcher Ham Deok-joo’s regular season.
Ham Deok-ju has not been able to return for more than three weeks since being excluded from the first team entry on August 29th. The reason for his expungement at the time was injury prevention, but the condition of his left elbow worsened as he prepared for his return. Earlier this month, Coach Yeom said, “After five days of rest, I played catch and said my elbow was a little uncomfortable.” Accordingly, the plan to register for the first team after a ten-day break was canceled.
Ham Deok-ju eventually went to the hospital on the 19th and underwent a detailed examination. Coach Yeom said, “The regular season will be difficult because the elbow inflammation is still severe. He decided that it was better not to overdo it. “He is receiving medication because the fluid and inflammation remain,” he said. “After the season was over, I was told not to even catch the ball to watch the postseason.” The regular season will be a break. “I think it’s probably because I threw it after not throwing it for several years,” he said with regret.
Ham Deok-ju pitched in 57 games this season, recording 4 wins, 4 saves, 16 holds, and an ERA of 1.62. He is tied for 8th place in holds, and is the only KBO league bullpen pitcher who has appeared in more than 30 games this season to have an earned run average in the 1-point range.
Ham Deok-ju, who was traded from Doosan to LG just before the start of the 2021 season, was limited to 16 games and 21 innings due to an elbow injury in the 2021 season. After the season, he had surgery to remove bone fragments in his elbow. Afterwards, after playing 12⅔ innings in 13 games in 2022, he went down to the second team in early May and prepared for selection, but took 4 months off due to a minor injury. In mid-September, he appeared in the Futures League, but failed to return to the first team and finished the season in the second team.먹튀검증
Ham Deok-ju was healthy this year and played a key role in the bullpen until the end of August. However, his fatigue began to build up and his elbow hurt again.
Unlike Ham Deok-ju, foreign pitcher Adam Plutko, who suffered a left pelvic bone bruise, is expected to return in early October. Coach Yeom said, “I told him to get in shape quickly and come back. In early October he must come unconditionally. “He’s aiming to pitch two or three times and go to fall baseball,” he explained.
Meanwhile, the LG-KT match scheduled to be held that day was canceled due to rain. Reorganization was confirmed on October 2nd, the preliminary date.
