The lineup for South Korea’s first women’s soccer match at the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games has been released.
South Korea and Myanmar will meet at 8:30 p.m. on Aug. 22 at the Wenzhou Sports Center Stadium in Wenzhou, China, in the first Women’s Football Group E match of the Hangzhou 2022 Asian Games.
Prior to kickoff, the starting lineup was announced. Choi Yoo-ri, Son Hwa-yeon, Chun Garam, Lee Eun-young, Lee Min-ah, Ji So-yeon, Jang Seul-ki, Shim Seo-yeon, Kim Hye-ri, Chu Hyo-joo, and Kim Jung-mi will start. Lee Min-ah makes her first appearance for the national team in a long time. She missed the 2023 Women’s World Cup in Australia and New Zealand due to injury. It will be her first appearance for the national team in about 10 months since a friendly against New Zealand in November last year.
The tournament was not held during the official A-match period, so most of the players who were playing in Europe were unavailable. This includes the likes of Cho So-hyun (Birmingham City) and Lee Keum-min (Brighton & Hove Albion), who played in the last World Cup. The only overseas player is Choi Yoo-ri, who will start up front. Choi, who was with Incheon Hyundai Steel at the time of the roster announcement but was recently transferred to Birmingham, will join his new club after the tournament.
