The sweep continues…Philly wins two, too

There will be no “Game 3” in the 2023 Wild Card Series.

The Philadelphia Phillies clinched a spot in the Division Series with a 7-1 victory over the Miami Marlins in Game 2 of their Wild Card Series at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on Friday (May 5), taking the series 2-1.

They will face the first-place Atlanta Braves in the National League East in the Division Series.

The Phillies scored their first run in the top of the third inning when Kyle Schwarber doubled to right field, scoring Christian Pacheco from first base.

Trey Turner followed with a single to right that deflected off the pitcher’s glove, bringing Schwarber home.

J.T. Realmuto hit a solo home run in the fourth and Bryson Stott hit a grand slam in the sixth.

Stott, who was batting just .140 (7-for-50) in the postseason prior to the blast, was the hero.

Starter Aaron Nola pitched seven innings of three-hit ball with one walk and three strikeouts to earn the win.

Miami got a run back in the ninth on Josh Bell’s RBI single to left, but the deficit was too big to overcome.바카라

They had to settle for reaching the postseason for the first time in 20 years, since 2003, based on a 162-game season.

Starter Braxton Garrett allowed two runs on three hits and one walk with five strikeouts in three innings.
