Manchester City leapfrogged Bournemouth 6-1…Arsenal lost for the first time of the season

Defending English Premier League (EPL) champions Manchester City have moved to the top of the standings with three straight wins. Last season’s runner-up, Arsenal, suffered its first loss in the opening 11 games.

City cruised to a 6-1 victory over Bournemouth in the 11th round of the 2023-24 EPL at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester, England, on Friday (Aug. 5), led by a goal and four assists from Jeremy Dockoo.

City, who have now won three consecutive league games, moved to 9W2L (27 points), overtaking Tottenham (8W2L and 26 points), who have played one game less. Bournemouth remained in 17th place with a 1-3-7 record (6 points).레모나토토 주소

Dokou, who joined City this season, opened the scoring in the 30th minute after playing a 2-on-1 pass with Rodri to break through the Bournemouth defense.

His goal set the tone for the rest of the game, and he played a perfect supporting role. Dockoo then picked up his first assist of the night in the 33rd minute, setting up Bernardo Silva’s goal. Four minutes later, he assisted on a Manuel Akanji goal, giving him one goal and two assists in the first half.

Doku didn’t stop there. He assisted on Phil Foden’s fourth goal 19 minutes into the second half before setting up Silva’s goal in the 38th minute.

Nathan Ake’s header in the 43rd minute sealed the win for City.

Arsenal, who were unbeaten against Tottenham this season, lost 1-0 at Newcastle, conceding a late Anthony Gordon goal in the 19th minute.

The loss drops Arsenal to 7-3-1-1 (24 points) and into third place. The third spot is also precarious as there is not much of a goal difference between fourth-place Liverpool (23 points) and fifth-place Aston Villa (22 points).

Newcastle continued their unbeaten run of seven league games (five wins, two draws) to sit in sixth place with six points (20).

Gordon opened the scoring in the 19th minute off a header from Joelington with the score tied at 0-0. Just before Gordon’s goal, Joelington pushed an Arsenal defender, but the referee allowed the goal to stand.

After the game, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said: “The disallowed goal is embarrassing. I don’t know how the goal was allowed. They say the EPL is the best league in the world, and I’m ashamed to be a part of it,” he said, strongly criticizing the referee’s decision.
