The Philadelphia Phillies’ Michael Lorenzen threw a no-hitter in his home debut.
Lorenzen took the mound against the Washington Nationals at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia on Tuesday (Oct. 10).
Lorenzen threw 124 pitches over nine innings, allowing four walks while striking out five and not allowing a hit. He pitched a complete game without allowing an earned run. The Phillies won 7-0. It was the 14th no-hitter in Phillies history.
Lorenzen was acquired by the Phillies from the Detroit Tigers two days before the trade deadline. His first start in a Phillies uniform came on April 4 against the Miami Marlins. He pitched eight innings of two-run ball, proving the trade was a good one.
