“Overcoming Pain 4 Years Ago” Gerrit Cole Wins AL Cy Young Award unanimously

After a breakout year, Gerrit Cole, 33, of the New York Yankees, unanimously won his first Cy Young Award in 2019.

MLB.com, the official website of Major League Baseball, reported on Saturday that Cole won the American League Cy Young Award. His first award 11 years after his major league debut.굿모닝토토 주소

The results were overwhelming. Cole was a unanimous winner, receiving all 30 first-place votes and totaling 210 points. No one else was able to steal his first-place vote.

In second place was Sonny Gray with 104 points, including 20 second-place votes and six third-place votes, and Kevin Gausman with 82 points, including seven second-place votes and 15 third-place votes.

This marks the second consecutive year that the American League Cy Young Award voting has had a unanimous winner. Last year, Justin Verlander was the unanimous winner.

Cole pitched 209 innings in 33 games this season, going 15-4 with a 2.63 ERA. He struck out 222 batters. Those are career highs in ERA and most innings pitched.

Cole previously set career highs with the Houston Astros in 2019, but was edged out for his first award by teammate Verlander.

At the time, Cole was deemed to have outperformed Verlander, who won the award. So this award is a bit of a redemption for 2019.

Aside from a shortened season in 2020, Cole has been relatively unsatisfying since joining the New York Yankees. A step back from the top of his game.

However, Cole has been one of the best starting pitchers in the American League all season long, winning his first Cy Young Award at the age of 33.

Now, the Major League Baseball office will announce the Most Valuable Player (MVP) for both leagues on April 17. Shohei Ohtani and Ronald Acuña Jr. are the favorites to win the honor.
