Bayern Munich announced the honor on social media on Saturday, saying, “Kane has been named Player of the Month for October. Congratulations, Harry!”, the club announced the award.
Kane is arguably the best striker of the 2010s. After breaking out for Tottenham Hotspur in the 2013-14 season, he went on to lead the team’s offense for over a decade, breaking numerous records along the way. In the Premier League (PL) alone, he’s been the top scorer on multiple occasions and won the Golden Boot at the World Cup. He surpassed Jimmy Greaves to become Tottenham’s all-time leading scorer, and even if you expand the scope to the PL, only Alan Shearer has scored more goals. Shearer’s consistent performances for England also helped him overtake Wayne Rooney as the country’s most capped player.
Kane became a ‘legend’ in England, but ahead of this season, he chose a new challenge: to realize his ambition to win a title, he passed up the chance to become the ‘PL’s all-time leading scorer’ and moved to Munich.레모나토토
There were expectations, but also concerns. There were plenty of great strikers at Munich before Kane, and there were questions about whether Kane could make an impact beyond them.
Kane proved his worth with his ‘ability’. He started the league opener and got off to a flying start, scoring a goal and providing an assist in the team’s 4-0 win. He followed that up with a multi-goal performance in the second leg against Augsburg. He was quiet in the third-round match against Borussia Mönchengladbach, but was on fire from then on. In the fifth round against Bochum, he scored a whopping five attacking points, including a hat-trick, before scoring back-to-back hat-tricks against Darmstadt and Dortmund.
Kane broke numerous records. According to the BBC, he’s the only player to ever score a hat trick in the der Klassiker. He also needs three more goals to become the Bundesliga’s top scorer in a single season, and not just for England. Kane is the only player in Bundesliga history to have scored 15 goals in his first 10 games, with Gerd Muller doing it in 1968-69. He has already surpassed Serge Gnabry’s record as Munich’s top scorer last season and no other player has scored more goals this season.
21 goals and 7 assists in 17 games so far, including cup competitions. His goalscoring form is even better than when he was at Tottenham. His scoring pace is not even close to that of the ‘monster’ Elling Holland, who broke numerous records last season.
All eyes are now on Kane to see if he can surpass Robert Lewandowski. Lewandowski broke the Bundesliga’s single-season goalscoring record with 41 league goals in 2020-21. It’s still a huge gap, but it’s not impossible for Kane to surpass it if he keeps up his current scoring pace.
Kane is on a ‘record-breaking’ pace in his first year at the club. It’s no surprise that Kane is the October Player of the Month. Kane scored four goals and provided two assists in three league games in October. While he only had one assist against Freiburg, he opened the scoring against Mainz with a goal, and scored four offensive points, including a hat trick against Darmstadt, to lead his team to an 8-0 win.
Kane’s pace hasn’t slowed down in November. As mentioned, he scored a hat trick against Dortmund and also scored two goals against Heidenheim last time out. Five goals in two games. If he keeps this up, he’ll be the November Player of the Month.
